Torrent Applications - Which is the best?

There are a lot of TORRENT software applications out there but we've only tried 3.

However, we are only recommending 2 TORRENT applications on this blog:

AZUREUS (or Vuze, as it is now called)

Advanced users prefer Azureus. Also, if you have RAM/memory to spare, then, this is the torrent application for you.

It is a memory-hogger but with its advanced features, it's worth it. We have a PC running on 512MB RAM and it uses Azureus without any problems.

We like Azureus' GUI better. You can change torrent's priority rank easier. Azureus has tabs for better view of the files the torrents contain. The tabs are good for people like us who tend to download a lot of torrents and opening them for future downloading.


Something that we didn't like about Azureus is adding new trackers to a torrent takes longer than it is with uTorrent. You have to manually add each tracker one by one.

From our experience, we were able to get better speeds using Azureus. We'll show you how to improve your downloading speeds through Azureus on a later post.

The new Azureus version, Vuze, has been released sometime ago. However, we are sticking to the old Azureus version 2.5.0.0. It still has the advanced features you need without hogging more RAM, like Vuze. Download them from the following websites:

uTorrent

uTorrent is wayyyy faster than Azureus. It doesn't take too much RAM to run. uTorrent is very light-weight so it can even run on the slowest PCs today.

It has a clean GUI, easier for most people to use. However, we prefer the tabs feature of Azureus.

Adding new trackers is wayyyy easier with uTorrent. All you need to do is copy-paste the list of trackers you want added to the torrent so it would download faster.

In our experience using uTorrent, we weren't able to get the best download speeds we can get with our broadband connection. There were plugins that you need to look for and download just to speed up your downloads. Unlike with Azureus, where advanced features can easily be changed to finish downloads faster.

For us, Azureus is the best torrent application out there. But if your computer can't handle it, go ahead and use uTorrent.
